青森県は全国一のリンゴの生産地で、特に岩木山麓にはリンゴ園が密集しています。岩木山は青森県西部に位置する標高1,625ｍの山で、「日本百名山」の一つに数えられ、その岩木山の山麓一帯にはリンゴ園が広がっており、雄大な岩木山とリンゴ園を組合せた風景は、津軽地方を代表する風物詩となっています。

青森県はリンゴの生産量が最も多い県であり、実に全国生産量の50%を生産しており、さらに弘前市だけでも全国の約20%を生産しています。岩木山麓のリンゴの主な収穫時期は9月中旬～11月上旬で、岩木山麓のリンゴ園が収穫の秋を迎えました。
品種によって収穫時期に若干のズレがありますが、リンゴ狩りを楽しめる果樹園もあり、新鮮なリンゴを直接もぎ取り味わうことができます。

また、岩木山神社は岩木山の南東麓に鎮座し、江戸時代に建造された社殿は「重要文化財」に指定されています。岩木山の山頂付近には、その奥宮も鎮座します。地元では「お岩木さま」とも呼ばれ、人々に親しまれています。
岩木山の山頂部は、３つの峰が「山」の字を形成し、それぞれ岩木山・鳥海山・厳鬼山と呼ばれています。

雄大な岩木山を仰ぐ津軽平野では稲作も盛んで、津軽米の産地となっており、水田地帯が広がります。岩木山がそびえ立つ津軽平野から幻想的な夕景もご紹介します。

Mt. Iwaki is a 1,625-meter-high mountain located in the western part of Aomori Prefecture, and is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan. The combination of the majestic Mt. Iwaki and apple orchards is one of the most famous scenes in the Tsugaru region.

Aomori Prefecture is the largest apple-producing prefecture in Japan, producing 50% of the country’s total production, and Hirosaki City alone produces about 20% of the country’s total. The main harvest season for apples at the foot of Mt. Iwaki is from mid-September to early November, and the apple orchards at the foot of Mt. Iwaki have entered the autumn harvest season.
There is a slight discrepancy in the harvest time depending on the variety, though. There are also orchards where you can enjoy apple picking, where you can directly pick and taste fresh apples.

Iwakisan Shrine is located at the southeastern foot of Mount Iwaki. The shrine building, built in the Edo period (1603-1868), is designated as an “Important Cultural Property”. The inner shrine is also located near the summit of Mt. It is also called “Oiwagi-sama” by the locals, and is well known by the people.

In the Tsugaru Plain, which looks up at the majestic Mt. Iwaki, rice cultivation is also flourishing, and the area is a production center for Tsugaru rice, and paddy fields spread out. I will also introduce the fantastic evening view from the Tsugaru Plain where Mt. Iwaki stands tall.
